Meet the Herd!

Hello! We are David and Heather Herd! We are a family of 4 and one doggo who believe that life is best lived through experiences, not possessions. Our journey towards this mindset began in 2016 when we discovered the F.I.R.E. (Financial Independence, Retire Early) movement. Embracing the idea of doing more with less, we reached partial financial independence in just a few years, giving us the freedom to live life on our own terms—today, not someday in the distant future.

With two young kids in tow, we’ve set out to explore not just the USA but soon the world. Our mission is to instill in them a love for lifelong learning, a sense of global citizenship, and an appreciation for the beauty of our planet. Over the past 18 months, we’ve been part-time traveling in our beloved fifth wheel RV, Norman, checking off 21 states and counting. Each destination brings new lessons, unforgettable memories, and a deeper understanding of what it means to live a fulfilling, intentional life.

We love discovering family-friendly destinations and sharing our experiences with others. Our hope is to inspire fellow families to embrace a travel mindset and realize that the world is full of opportunities for adventure, learning, and growth.
